Just wwwwoooowwwww. To be honest, I didn’t think the Suns would make a finals ever. The way the NBA has been growing, with star led teams/super teams, it just never felt like Phoenix would be a market for that sort of action. Little did I know, a global pandemic was going to happen. That’s critical to remember, (I know it’s easily forgettable) because it brought the bubble.
The Suns 8-0 run at Disney can’t be stated enough. If Monty Williams didn’t bring his guys down there believing they belonged, they could have easily lost every game. Instead he gave the guys hope. Hope and a realization that they do belong.
Fast forward to the 2 month off-season. The Suns took a pretty big leap of faith trading for a 36 year old point guard. In retrospect, the trade was a steal. It always was a great trade for the Suns, but now it’s a steal. It has shades of Kawhi to Toronto. The hopeful difference is that Chris Paul most likely will stay.?maybe? I don’t know, but that’s the least of the worries.
Now, the Suns just get to sit and wait for their next opponent to be decided. It has been quite a journey getting to this point and there is a serious chance they win. I’m still scared and not ready to celebrate, but…
